There comes a point when you stop asking why people treat you the way they do and start focusing on how you choose to respond. Reflection is about that moment. It’s about understanding that respect should be mutual, loyalty should be genuine, and the energy we give to others has a way of finding its way back to
us.
The song isn’t about revenge or bitterness. It’s about accountability. The title Reflection represents the idea that people often end up facing a reflection of their own actions. When someone is honest, they usually receive honesty in return. When someone brings deception or disrespect, they shouldn’t be surprised when trust is lost. That’s one of life’s simplest but most powerful lessons.
Writing this song allowed me to express something many people experience but don’t always know how to say. We’ve all encountered fake love, broken trust, or relationships where loyalty wasn’t returned. Instead of allowing those experiences to create anger, I wanted to turn them into a message about protecting your peace, standing by your values, and refusing to compromise your integrity.
As Kayo Lyon, I want my music to be more than entertainment. I want it to start conversations, inspire confidence, and remind people that strength doesn’t always come from fighting back, it often comes from knowing your worth and walking away with your dignity intact.
