Kris Anders Releases New Single ‘I’m Ready’ - Skope Mag

Taken from his album, The Threshing Floor, which releases in October, “I’m Ready” is filled with punkish spirit. It’s an anthemic statement of purpose, in fact. “I’m ready for a good time, baby,” Anders sings out, like a guy ready to party. It is, in its essence, nothing short of a party song.

Although it’s a ‘cleaner’ recording than what the Ramones used to consistently create, one could easily imagine those four New Yorkers counting off ‘1, 2, 3, 4’ and charging out with this song. It’s both simple and uncluttered. It’s little more than guitar, bass, drums, and Anders’ voice. The first thing you notice is that guitar riff. It’s a chunky, loud, and fast bit of playing.

This is also a short song, which lasts fewer than three minutes in length. It’s one of those tracks where Anders gets in, makes his statement, and gets out without a whole lot of needless dialogue. You have to appreciate his brevity. His lyrics are not poetic and wordy. He gets right to the point, without delay.

Anders may play with a punk rock attitude, but his voice is clear and pure, without any gruffness. His voice sounds as though it could also be really pretty, if he wanted to go that way. However, this is decidedly a rock and roll piece of music, which doesn’t at all call for applying singing sweetness.

Lyrically, it speaks of the anticipation of a fun night. Most likely an evening of romance. His insistency makes him sound like he’d be just as fine with a morning or afternoon of love. The night can just seem so far away at times, particularly when you like another person and there’s nothing you’d rather do than be with them. Close to them. This is the attitude Anders puts off with his song.

While romance is the stated purpose of the song, the pace of it also suggests that he wants to go out and do something with this other person. One doesn’t get all that hyped up to go out for a quiet dinner. At least not usually. Maybe he wants to go out for a walk downtown. With all his pent-up energy, he’s going to need to release it all somehow. If he doesn’t, he may just come off as a nervous wreck. All that energy, with no way to expend it, which can’t be good.

The first name that came to mind while listening to this track was Jonathan Richman. Granted, Richman is more of a quiet, sweet-voiced vocalist – even sweeter than Anders. Yet, Richman is also best known for rather simple, sincere lyrical gestures. Like Anders, he loves pretty basic rock & roll. He never complicates things.

The Boy Scout motto is be prepared, and when it comes to love and romance, Kris Anders is ready, willing and able. And prepared. Granted his song isn’t at all complicated. Then again, some of the best rock music is distilled down to its simplest form. It’s intended, much of the time, to move the heart and body, not the mind. Thus, Kris Anders sounds ready as he’ll ever be.

Curious For Music - Kris Anders New Single "I'm Ready" from 'The Threshing Room Floor' Album

Kris Anders’ “I’m Ready” is a blast of timeless summer revelry sparking with infectious energy. The urgency will carry you away. The British Columbia, Canada headquartered vocalist, songwriter and musician promises to make enormous waves on the back of his EP release Threshing Room Floor, and it isn’t hard to hear why after a single such as this.

It definitely belies his rural upbringing on a British Columbia farm as “I’m Ready” sounds steeped in city life to its core. The mix of retro-rock influences alongside the song’s post-punk energy mark it as a natural live number. Imagining Anders and his band attacking the song with abandon for a rapturous concert crowd doesn’t strain credibility; it seems like a natural fit. From the outset it bears down on listeners with rambunctious fervor and illustrates the extent of Anders’ skill as a vocalist. He matches the song’s pace without even an inkling of exhaustion.

The romping rhythm section attack supplies the song’s foundation. It’s the guitar work, however, that serves as Anders’ principal musical partner. The six-string contributions riff ferociously for the bulk of the cut and unleash lashing pyrotechnics near its conclusion. It’s a performance that never takes its foot off the gas and carries listeners away on the tide of its enthusiasm.

“I’m Ready” benefits from superb production as well. It packs enough of a wallop to blow you back in your seat without ever overwhelming the audience. Each element of the performance is given equal weight rather than zeroing in on one part at the expense of others. This sort of balance serves the song well. Anders’ commitment to delivering a complete outing is a hallmark of his recording output thus far and “I’m Ready” is no exception.

He's quite obviously geared for live performances. Studio work can only capture so much of the song’s unbridled power, and it behooves any interested listener to check him out in concert. “I’m Ready” is a certain crowd pleaser tailor made for the stage. It doesn’t require any accommodation to the vagaries of live performance and likely gains immeasurably from the instant feedback that audiences provide.

Anders sounds like he’s ready to conquer the world. “I’m Ready” isn’t a niche tune crafted to serve a narrow segment of the listening public but, instead, an all-around winner with across the board appeal. It’s eminently relatable. Anyone who’s ever felt emboldened by the moment, young and old alike, will experience the song’s undeniable power. Anders and his band mates rip through the track at such a velocity that it leaves you reeling and giddy.

Those already familiar with Kris Anders will need little convincing. They already know what he can do. Newcomers though will come away from this track as converts to the cause and eager to hear more. “I’m Ready” is another rung up the ladder for Kris Anders and checks off all the boxes for a first-class rock and roll song. You’ll come away from this cut invigorated and sure he’ll be around for a long time to come.

Racing by at a blistering pace, Kris Anders delivers his giddy attitude with joy on “I’m Ready.” Perfectly capturing what infatuation means, the song never stops. The beats hit with such emotion, as the pop-punk ethos is invigorating. Guitar work is limber, with the riffs adding to the celebratory spirit. Nods to groups like Blink 182 take shape. How he manages to keep up the energy throughout the piece proves admirable, for not a moment is meant for slowing down. The party attitude has righteousness, and lyricism further emphasizes the purpose of getting together. Yearning to the tee, it brings together elements of friendship, romantic relationships, and everything involved in this communal quality.

The song wastes no time in getting started. His voice takes front and center stage, and the rest of the band follows at a chaotic pace. Grooves have a power behind them, thrusting the whole journey forward. Many of the layers intermingle to create this vast, uncanny tapestry. He has much fun messing with listener expectations, too, as there is no quiet moment, no moment of contemplation. This song is meant to seize the day, to be happy and content with oneself. He allows this theme to underpin the whole work, letting the song work itself into a fevered pitch, finally releasing it in one final burst by the end of the song.

Kris Anders kicks out the jams on the energy-fueled urgency of “I’m Ready.”

Guitar Music, Plain and Simple

https://gigwise.com/news/3429236/kris-anders-delivers-rock-pop-on-new-single--ever-enough--

No matter what happens within the world of music, no matter how much technology evolves and the means by which sound can be made develops, rock and guitar music is always going to be a prominent factor within. One person delivering on this is Kris Anders as he goes pop rock on the new single ‘Ever Enough’.

This track is the fourth release off of his upcoming EP ‘Threshing Room Floor’ which is set to come out towards the back end of 2023. If you’re a fan of rock music and catchy choruses then it’s certainly one for you. The tune is incredibly upbeat and explores the complexities of a relationship, constantly questioning whether you will ever be enough for the person that you’re with. No doubt the song is filled with head nodding energy from start to finish.

“The writer is frustrated that no matter what he does, he is ‘never enough’ for the woman in his life,” said Anders about the new single. “it can also apply to the feeling of futility in trying to make it in the music industry and all the frustration that comes with being an independent artist.”

The song’s good, but there are certain elements that let it down ever so slightly. Given rock music stretches so far back, the overall chord progression and riff is a little bit uninspired, the track as a whole has a feeling of first draft as opposed to finished product.

That being said, there are plenty of positives to be taken from it as well. The first has already been mentioned in that the song is upbeat and incredibly catchy, certainly capturing the feel that Anders was almost certainly going for. Plus, his voice is lovely, grainy and so deep you could drown in it.
